Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Are you a qualified therapist?

Yes I studied for 5 years obtaining my SEG Awards Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with Beverley College where I  also obtained my Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills. I have other related qualifications including Level 2  Certificates in Understanding Dementia, Understanding Stress, Understanding Anxiety, Understanding Depression, Equality and Diversity. I also have CPD Course Certificates in Child Sexual Abuse, Mental Health & the Body, Dissociation & Somatisation, Working with Dissociation Orders in Clinical Practice, Working with Relational Trauma and Working with Blame & Shame. Other qualifications are Dance Teacher Training Foundation & Anatomy (JWAAD), Dance Teacher Training Diploma (JWAAD) and Active in Age Teaching (Open College Network) I also hold Safeguarding Certificates for both Children and Adults, have an enhanced DBS and have public liability insurance. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and have regular sessions with a qualified supervisor to ensure my continued development within the field.

What sort of therapist are you?

Primarily a person centred therapist which is a talking therapy. This is a humanistic approach based on the core conditions of honesty, unconditional positive regard and empathy. My role as a therapist is to listen with acceptance and care helping you to discover your own path to understanding and growth. I love working with people of all ages and genres, listening to their stories and journeying with them. I am a warm and compassionate person with a love of life and all it holds and I'm a great believer in self-healing. I work in a professional manner with a welcoming, calm and empathic approach as I know that entering into a counselling room can be a daunting experience and I try to create a stress free and relaxing space for all.

What age clients do you see?

I usually see clients aged 18 and over.

How long is each session?

Each session is 1 hour (Individuals)

What can I talk about?

You can talk about anything you want to including things that you may not be able to tell other people. This is your space for you to use as you wish.

Do I have to sign up for a certain number of sessions?

No, you decide how many sessions, however, the usual is between 6-12 sessions if you are coming for a very specific problem. I often see clients for longer periods if there are more complex issues. Some clients prefer weekly, others fortnightly it is up to the individual and issues presented. Some clients find that they need ongoing support after the initial therapy and perhaps check in once a month or every few months, it is a very individual thing. I do offer discounts for multiple sessions booked and paid for.

Where is your premises and is it accessible?

The sessions are held in private rooms at 1b The Square, Willerby, HU10 7HN. Access is from the street and up 2 flights of stairs.

Is there a toilet?

Yes there is a toilet.

Is there Parking?

There is a public car park just around the corner and it is FREE. There is also a bus stop just outside the premises.

How are the on-line sessions managed?

On-line sessions are held on WhatsApp which is fully encrypted. You would be asked to ensure that your space is private and no one else is present whilst the session is in progress and that no recordings are made. Terms of Therapy agreement still apply. Telephone sessions again would require you to ensure me that no one else is present and that your location is secure and again terms of Therapeutic agreement still apply. Should there be a break down of connection from my end for either method I will endeavor to rectify as soon as possible and re-connect.
